GENERAL TIPS

We spent one month travellling both the North and South Island of New Zealand in their summertime, which is in February.

When considering the best way to travel around the country, we were informed by many people that the best way to see the North and South Island was the Kiwi Experience, a hop on and off bus tour offering various package deals depending on what parts of the country you want to visit. Kiwi Experience has been New Zealand’s original adventure bus travel network for over 26 years and considering we’ve only planned to spend a month here, we thought this option would enable us to see the most we possibly could!

With New Zealand being such an outdoorsy, activities heavy place, we couldn't wait to get involved in as many as we could. The Kiwi bus makes this very easy, handing round 'sign-up' sheets for daily activities and accommodation. The only catch is, we quickly realised we were no longer talking South America prices! Activities are so well planned and great fun but the costs are always very high... so we would recommend downloading the Kiwi Experience iPhone app and having a look at what specific activities you want to do first, to avoid spending all your money on the first few and running out (which is very easily done!) For more detailed information about the Kiwi bus and the pro's and con's we encountered have a read below.
