We spent three months living and working in Australia’s cultural hub, Melbourne. Once we had made enough money we booked a compervan along with two of our friends from home all set for six weeks travelling up to Cairns.

We wanted to do something different for our East Coast trip and so having a campervan seemed like the best and the cheapest option. There are a few different options such as, the Greyhound bus, renting a car or the option we went for. Although the Greyhound bus is cheaper to start with, factoring in the price of hostels for four people every night made the campervan a much more cost effective choice.

Although we spent six weeks from Sydney to Cairns we found that this was maybe too much time. Having now completed the trip we feel that four weeks would be the perfect amount of time to fit everything worth seeing in. The East Coast is a beautiful place to travel, there are beaches to see all the way up and many National Parks to explore. Be sure to check out our post on ‘6 Hidden Places You Must Visit’ to see some of the gems we’ve stumbled upon.
